August 19, 25, 2018 Old Sagay

hello everyone!!! its been 5 weeks since i got to Old Sagay!! so so crazy. time goes by so fast here.
this was a good week!! Old Sagay is just the best. the people here are so so so nice. and loving and ah i just love them all.

highlights of this week:
- we were in the city one day this week for sis. melgaso's doctor appointment, and they had a 7/11!! oh it was so exciting. i got a slurpee and told sister melgaso all about july 11, free slurpee day. my fav day of the year. its the little things :,)
- this week i realized how many stars you can see here!! I guess I never looked up before this week or something haha but its sooo pretty. so so many stars.
-yesterday a cute little filipino man climbed a tree and got us all coconuts so i drank coconut juice out of a coconut on the beach. life could be worse
-i started my 2nd journal this week which was exciting considering ive never finished a journal before in my life hahaha but i went back and was reading through all my experiences these past (almost) 3 months and was realizing how blessed i have been here. the mission life is the best. one of my fav things to do when life gets hard is to go back and read what i wrote on the really good days that ive had.

One of my absolute favorite parts of being here in the phlippines, is the kids. they are just SO CUTE. like seriously so cute. i could just hang out with them all day. but we were visiting a woman on Tuesday, and she has the cutest 4 little kids i think ive ever seen. they are so so sos so sosososos cute. and we were in the middle of teaching them, when I noticed that this cute little boy was just like hugging this handmade wooden toy truck. and i realized at that moment that that was the first toy that ive seen since being here!! and i immediately couldn't help but just cry. i thought of the buckets of toys sitting on shelves at my house that dont even get used and wished so badly i could just hand them out to kids here. cause this one little toy truck meant SO much to this little boy. it broke my heart a little to think that a lot of these kids would absolutely love a toy to play with. i hope so so badly one day that all these people here have enough food to eat and these cute kids get a toy to play with and clean water to drink. i pray every single night that somehow, someday, these cute kids will be able to live in a way where they have enough for their needs. i wish everyone in the world could have a chance to witness this first hand like i get to do. it is so so perspective changing and seriously life altering. i dont think ill ever be able to look at my life the same way ever again.

im so grateful to be here. the days are hard and there are for sure some days where i think that i wish i could take a nap in my bed and have some air conditioning. but then i think of all the people here who dont even have a bed. i havent seen a single bed since being here either. these people sleep on the ground in the dirt or on bamboo tables. and yet they are willing to share everything that they have and are so so happy every day, when they could have so many reasons to complain. I hope i never forget the way that i feel when i think of these cute people. so much love for them all.

First transfer day is next week!! super exciting!! crazy to think ive already almost finished a transfer here. time flies.

love you all and miss yoU!! goodluck to my cute siblings starting school this week and to everybody else who starts soon too!!!
