Sarah's Mission to Bacolod Philippines

friends!! maayong aga!! kamusta kamo? This has been the first normal week of work all transfer without some type of exchanges or meetings or anything!! its been really good. The highlights:  -the senior couple missionaries worked with us on tuesday and they have a CAR. Missionary work is a whole new experience when you don't walk for hours in the heat lemme tell ya -on wednesday we went out and HARVESTED RICE FIELDS. It was the funniest experience EVER. The entire town was just staring at us and laughing it was so fun. It was so hot and im still sore but who else can say they harvested rice in the philippines and then ate the rice they harvested? -its fiesta here in la carlota. it has been INSANE. apparently famous people have been here all week. you're pretty much kept out of the loop as a missionary though hahaha. we heard fireworks until 2 in the morning though last night. wow hello friends!! well my teenage years are officially over :,) but its been a good run, made some good mems and now I'm pumped for a new decade! wooo! no better way to start it than living on this cute little island :)) but its been a solid week!! -went on a nice tour of the southern parts of this island to go train in different meetings on tuesday. it was a good time.  -had exchanges on thursday! so me and sister campbell worked in La Carlota and it was SO fun. our house was all american for a night so we ate oreos and grilled cheese and spoke english ahhahaah i havent felt so american in a looong time -holy week in the philippines is a HUGE deal. which means everyone takes off work all week. thats bad news for us though when we need to take tricycles to get everywhere. we may have ended up walking 2+ miles in the hottest time of day to get to one of our appointments. when we finally got there, they were apalled when they saw the 2 of us dripping in sweat from head t...

What a week!!! first off WE FINALLY GOT TO WATCH GENERAL CONFERENCE!! oh it was so great i loved it. except saturday there was a brown out in the whole city so we had no power at the church. luckily they have a generator but its suuuper slow which means any fans we had wouldnt work. im not even kidding i literally thought we were gonna die of like a heat stroke. it was so hot in there. literally like a sauna. but its okay theres gotta be blessings from that sacrifice im tellin ya.  and GUESS WHAT!! FAMILY!! whazzup!!! another week! Wow this has been a crazy week. So much has happened.  Monday- Pday! So after we emailed we came home and I taught sis nanlabi to play the ukulele. It was a good time. Then we went and bought supplies for our training on thursday. Im excited for it. I think it will be good. Then we worked that night. It was so funny. We went to this one appointment who livesin like themiddle of nowhere. It is like a 20 minute hike in. but by the time we left, it was dark outside so we had to do the hike in the darkhahah. We have to cross like streams and long bamboo bridges all with one flashlight. And then im like 3 feet behind sister nanlabi and I hear her scream, and she has just stepped in the hugest pile of caribau poop I have ever seen in my life. She was screaming and pouring water on herself and if anyone were to pass by us in this dark field in pitch blacknesses they probably thought we were dying. Oh man good times. helloooo!!! kamusta na kamo? What a crazy week its been!! so much has happened. Starting with GENERAL CONFERENCE WOWOOW. We havent been able to watch it yet. We get to this saturday and sunday! But we've been counting down the days.  The highlights of this week- -went hiking in rice fields through a thunderstorm. Lets just say anybody who passed by us is probabaly not gonna forget seeing 2 crazy looking girls literally drenched in mud and rain water from head to foot. -saw a clan of ducks.  -got to go to bacolod and sleep in the housing apartment where I last lived and see all my friends!! it was so fun I loved it.  -had exchanges on thursday! I got to go work in Hinigaran with Sister Castillo! It was so fun. They have the beach in their area!! she made me eggplant and tuna mix for breakfast. It was quite the combination.
