kamusta kamo??
life is still cruising over here!! this next week is the last week of my third transfer in the field!! crazy. a week from today is transfer day and we're all hoping nobody from our house gets transferred, but we'll see!! time just flies lemme tell ya
the highlights from the week-
-we went on exchanges this week! which means you like switch companions for a day. so i was with sister bingham which was wayy fun!!! shes awesome. we had lots of adventures that day though. we walked through this little alley thing to go to someones house one night and i kid you not all these bats went whizzing by our heads. so that was interesting. then sister bingham screamed and turns out there was a giant rat running around too. we got outta that place real quick. always a new adventure
- i realized as we were picking bananas straight off the tree and eating them, that the philippines is a pretty cool place!! as far as i know, southlake tx doesnt have any bananas trees just in everybodys backyard. neither does provo utah. perks of living on an island
its been a good week over here in Santa Fe!!
its funny cause most of the people here in this country really look to us as people with like all the answers. its really cool how much they respect us here even if we are just 19 year old girls walking around the streets of the Philippines. but we really are set apart as representatives of Jesus Christ so we just get to do what He would do if He was here!! and just love and serve His people! its wayy awesome. but we've started using that to our advantage and if we see people drinking or smoking on the street we pass by them and just say "indi ka ma inom!!" which means dont drink hahah and they literally listen to us and like try and stop cause we say its bad for them. which is awesome. people we dont even know. when i worked with sister bingham a bunch of construction workers updated us on their progress stopping smoking haha. gotta love it
we have been teaching this one cute family a bunch this week! The mom's name is Ayln and she is so so awesome. this week when we taught her she said she has stopped swearing and have started looking for ways to be a better mother and not get mad at her kids and all this stuff without us even saying anything. she just said as she was getting closer to Christ, she just wanted to change these little things about her life. and thats what the gospel does for people!! its so so awesome.
then we met this woman named Raquel, who just got here from Japan! shes filipino but married to a japanese man. she grew up in the philippines though so luckily she knows illongo cause i only know one japanese word (konichiwa) (thanks dad) and we started teaching her about the Atonement of Jesus Christ and how He suffered for each one of our trials and sadness and sins and she just burst into tears and said she had been looking for a church and God sent us at the perfect time to visit her. so so awesome.
im loving life over here as always!! we're getting prepped to celebrate thanskgiving next week even if nobody else in this country is gonna celebrate!! we are PUMPED!! and also may possibly buy a christmas tree. stay tuned
but love you all and miss you!! hope things are going well over there!!!
