September 22, 2019 Kabankalan Second

wow what a week!! its been a good one!! first full week ni sister velasco in the field. yayyyy

the highlights- 
Shaina was baptized on Saturday!!! me and sis amataga were able to find her, teach her, and see her baptized! after she was baptized she stood up and bore her testimony for everyone and thanked us missionaries for giving her a "new beginning" in her life. and then she told us all that she is going to start preparing right now to serve her own mission!! im so excited for her and all the lives shes going to change and all the new beginnings that shes going to give people. 

-the other highlight: boodle fight. so basically imagine a giant long table with huge green leaves laid out, with a huge pile of rice just going down the length of the table. and then all the meat and toppings for the rice on top. (see  pic below) and basically they just shout "1,2,3" and everyone just starts eating (with their hands) as fast as they can. its basically the full filipino experience hahah. it was actually way fun and probably the funniest thing we've ever done. 10/10!!    

basically life is just never boring over here. i love the philippines with all my heart and wish i could just stay here forever. they are such cute, simple people who only need family and Christ to be happy. there is this filipino saying which is "sanaol." it just means "i wish it was like that for everyone." sanaol gid. i wish everyone got to experience this country and  live among them. its completely perspective changing and life changing. i dont think i will ever be able to look at my life the same ever again. im so grateful for my mission.

hello everyone!!! what a week!!! highlights: -on wednesday, we had MISSION WIDE CLEANING DAY!!! so all the missionaries in Bacolod mission spent the entire day cleaning their apartments. so from 7:30 am to 5 pm, all we did was clean. and lemme tell ya. i killed species of bugs that i didnt even know existed and discovered that all the lizards lay their eggs behind my bookshelf!! that was a fun discovery.  -we found AMERICAN FOOD. oh my goodness. (see the pic below.) i got some pasta and french fries and it was the happiest meal. sister nanlabi said we needed to take a picture of our food for all our friends to guess whos meal was the americans and whos was the filipino's hahaha. no rice for this american!!! -Carlos was baptized on Sunday morning!! with his two nephews too. oh it was so happy. he had been trying to stop smoking for so long for this day and seeing him so happy just made me want to cry. so so happy for him. we had some cool experiences this week!! so on ...

wow what a week!!!  i just wanna start out by sending all my love to the Tucker family and everyone else who is struggling from loss of their cute mom. All my prayers are being sent in that direction and i wish i could be there with all my heart. But even from far away, I feel a lot of peace from God's plan for us and I know that He is with us in all of our trials and He can literally carry us through. This is one lesson I have really learned since being here. It is really hard to see in the moment sometimes, but God's plan is divine and was created since the world began. February 17, 2019 Santa Fe

MAAYONG AGA SA INYO TANAN sorry this will be a short email this week!!! but we just heard that we can skype our families now??? this is wild we're all in shock over here. but im excited!!! i miss those people life is so good over here!! the trio life is definitely different but fun!! sister bise and baczuk are both awesome and im pumped for the next 5 weeks.  we taught this woman named MikMik this week who I just love. we've been teaching her forever. her daughter was in teh hospital for dengue last week for 8 days, and then this week her son got hit by a car and it just seems like they're hit by trial after trial. (luckily he only fractured his arm) but she came to church yesterday and told us that god gives people trials to see how they'll act in the midst of them, and shes using them to come closer to Christ. i just love these people and their faith even when things are so hard.  I LOVE YOU ALL AND HAVE A GOOD WEEK HAPPY LATE VALENTINES DAY AND EARLY ...
