July 15 2018 Manilla MTC Phillippines

i made it!!!! after 30 hours of travel time, we made it to the philippines mtc!!
the first thing we noticed when we walked out of the airport, is how amazingly hot it is. like holy cow i thought we were gonna melt. then we piled into cars that took us to the MTC where we've been since friday morning!! we head out to our different missions on tuesday night. so ill head to Bacolod and get my companion on Wednesday!! thats when it all actually begins.

highlights of this week-
-ive never eaten so much rice in my whole life. literally with breakfast lunch and dinner they stack our plate with rice. like piles and piles of it. ever had pancakes with rice on top? yeah me neither till yesterday
-it rains ALL THE TIME. like 24/7. hasnt stopped since we got here. so basically we're just soaked all the time and my hair is literally a lions mane because of the humidity. so thats fun!! good thing i love the rain. but PERKS OF HUMIDITY- if my shirt is wrinkled, literally all i have to do is go outside for like 45 seconds and all the wrinkles are gone. the downfalls though- if i study outside all my pages in my notebooks and scriptures curl up and shrink cause its so wet outside. and if i have my camera open for more than like 15 seconds it fogs up. its been an adventure lemme tell ya
-the filipinos are so cute and so sweet and loving and we just love them. they're so funny too. one of the filipino elders came up and asked me for my email and facebook and told me hes going to come visit me in texas after the mission all because i passed him the volleyball during gym time. they all come shake our hands a million times and take pictures with us and are shocked by our blue eyes and just wanna touch us its so funny.
-i pulled out the crocs finally!!! its honestly a really cute look thanks to my cute jibbets from my bfffff jessow
-i successfully ate fish without gagging which has never happened before until i got here so clearly god's helpin me out cause we all know how i feel about fish

so yeah its been the most adventurous 3 days of my life i think!!!
but its so eye opening being here. just driving in and seeing people who live under blankets hanging from trees and people all over just with no food or clothes or anything. and im in manilla right now, which is the more developed area of the philippines. so when I get to Bacolod, I'm sure that it will be even more perspective changing. but even with nothing, these people are the absolute sweetest and loving people. ive never met so many people who are just so genuinely Christlike. The phlippines is the best country ive decided :)

i am seriously so excited to go and meet all these people!!

they're giving us balut tomorrow, which is the half developed chicken egg thing so thats fun. definitely not ready for that step yet but im pumped to watch all the brave missionaries out there try it. stay tuned about that one.

but im doing well over here!!! its insane, and sometimes we all realize what we're doing and that we're living in the philippines for the next 18 months and we all freak out together, but honestly my hearts already filled with love for the cute filipino people and i am so so excited to get out and meet them all in just 2 days.

ill write every monday now!! thats my new pday. so expect lots of fun updates from sister johnson and my crazy adventures every monday :)

palangga ta kamo!!!

hello!!
so the philippines mtc is crazy!! it rains literally 24/7. like not even kidding i dont think its stopped raining. its insane. i love it though i love rain. i wish it would thunder too tho. its fun casue it pours instead of just like drizzling so its so fun.

so we honestly dont do much here. its kinda funny. like its so chill compared to provo mtc. we have so so so much free time every day we dont even know what ot do with ourselves.
but hte whole point of being here is to go to the visa office which we're doing tomorrow. so we have to sign a bunch of stuff and all that.
but its been fun!!! theres only like 50 people here total i think so everybody knows everyone. a lot of people here dont speak english at all. its kinda cool. the filipinos like worship us and the first time we walked in adn saw them all they all went silent at lumch and all just stared at us hahaha. they take lots of pictures with us and everytime they see us they run across to us adn shake our hand. so like its a long line of filipinos who just all want to shake our hands its so funny. but we're pals iwth them all they're cool.

so everybdoy here speaks tagolog which is kinda hard cause we dont understand anything. but we leave tuesday night/wednesday mornign at 3:35 am for the airport to fly to bacolod where everybody speaks illongo so we're good.

we didnt get to go proselyting!! they cancelled it for some reason not sure why. but we went to the temple again instead. but tonight we're teaching an investigator who speaks illongo!! so thats exciting.

i ate fish!!!! i didnt even gag i was so proud of myself. then i gave the rest of it to an elder for him to finish but i had a solid like 4 bites without dying so im improving!!

they're giving us all balut tomorrow. thats a no from me. but most peopel are plannign on trying it. im just gonna take some photos and cheer them on from the side :)

i only have an hour to write. and hopefully i can upload pictures!!!
