hello!! kamusta kamo??
what a week!!! we're just trucking along over here. crazy to think next week i hit my 5 month mark!! so so insane. time seriously just flies.
the highlights of the week-
-we got MEXICAN FOOD!!!! so our puerto rican friend Dave is married to a filipina. and i guess he went to a mexican restaurant here in the philippines and was not impressed with it so he started his own restaurant called Los Tres Amigos. and its SO GOOD. literally wow heaven. perks of the city
-we crashed a birthday party this week!!! so it was pouring rain. like just pouring. and we were soaking wet. but we were running past this restaurant and these people outside stopped us and were like "ka-on ta!!!" which means like eat with us!! so we stopped and started talking to them and got some good food and some cake and life was good!! turns out it was some ladys birthday but she wasnt even there hahah. thats like the culture here. the filipinos will do any thing to throw a party even if the person isnt there haha. but its okay we made lots of new friends!!!
-made some french toast this week and it went south and definitely set off the smoke alarm in our house. but all is well
some really cool experiences this week though!!!
we were working yesterday walking around and all of our appointments were just falling through. we had gone to like 3 houses and they all were either not home or busy or something. so we were just kinda wondering where to go to next and kind of sick of walking and all that hahah and then we were passing this one house and this woman was standing outside, and we smiled and waved and walked past but then we both just stopped and turned around adn went back to talk to her!!! and turns out, she woke up that day with a feeling that somebody was going to come visit her that day. she didn't know who, and she didnt know when, but she was just waiting for whoever it was that was supposed to come. and when she let us into her house and we started talking, she said she felt so loved by God that day that He would send us to talk to her. totally not a coincidence.
then we were teaching this one couple named Edwin and Judith!! They have a bunch of kids who are grown now and we were just talking with them about God and His plan and all that and Edwin stopped us and said, "Sisters, wa'ay kami gutom sa langit" which means "we wont be hungry in heaven." and dang!! the fact that that is what heaven is for these people!! no hunger. it just kills me. ah i want to just give them all food and clean water and help them all not be hungry and have 3 meals a day and ahh. but im so so excited for the big reunion after this life where there wont be any hunger or division between classes. these people just deserve the world. i just love them and all the experiences that i am having here.
life is good here as always!! miss you all and love you!!!
