Maayong aga sa inyo tanan!
What a week!!! first off WE FINALLY GOT TO WATCH GENERAL CONFERENCE!! oh it was so great i loved it. except saturday there was a brown out in the whole city so we had no power at the church. luckily they have a generator but its suuuper slow which means any fans we had wouldnt work. im not even kidding i literally thought we were gonna die of like a heat stroke. it was so hot in there. literally like a sauna. but its okay theres gotta be blessings from that sacrifice im tellin ya.
and GUESS WHAT!! MY CUTE LITTLE SISTER TURNS 13 THIS WEEEEK!! everyone go celebrate her yayayayy
this week was a good one!
we were SO busy. but it was fun. we headed to bacolod again tuesday night for sister nanlabi's doctor appointment and slept there. and then wednesday we were at the doctor allll day. but the highlights-
-had zone conference on thursday!! me and sister nanlabi gave a 30 min training which was fun
-president sumagpao and the assistants drove us the hour home from zone conf all the way back to La Carlota! every couple minutes President would turn around with another filipino snack for us to try hahaha. a huge thing here is cooked bananas. which kinda taste like a potato but not really. 3/10 reccommend.
-i taught sister nanlabi to play the ukulele!! right now she only knows Happy Birthday so we hear that probably 18 times a day hahaha. but yesterday i told her we're gonna branch out and learn more. so now she can play i am a child of god too hahah. life skills
-went to one lesson and he wanted to play the guitar while we sang the opening song! but then we soon realized his guitar skills were not quite as high as we were assuming so it turned into quite the different rendition of "love at home" hahah
-met this man today and we introduced ourselves and he could NOT figure out how to say my name for the life of him. so he was like "im just gonna call you sister john. is that okay?" which was so funny cause johnson is probably the most common name in all of america. but clearly not in this country hahah
but we had a good week! sister nanlabi and i are trying to flood the earth with the Book of Mormon. its been really cool the experiences we've had. if you havent read it, do it!! even if you arent a member of this church, you can find answers to every question ever through this book. its awesome.
but i love you all and miss you tons!! have a good week!!!
Sister Johnson
Hi family!! whazzup!!!
what a crazy week it has been. we've been crazy busy this week. but its been good!
Monday- we emailed and then prepared our training! it took forever but it was good. and then we ate lunch at this place that is SO GOOD. i got a chicken sandwich with fries and felt so american it was magical. iloved it. its my new fav restaurant. they bring you cucumber lemonade for FREE. i love it. its like 70 pesos for a real. which is like a dollar and a half. i love the philippines. 10/10 reccommend. then that night we just put together the handouts for our training. so we homeade laminated them with an iron and tied cute bows on them. it was good.
Tuesday- woo tuesday!! so we went to district council that morning and basically got a lecture saying La Carlota zone is the lowest statistic wise in the mission. and then the zone leaders were like "excpet the la carlota sisters. they're the only ones with baptisms" hahah. so that was funny. but its true i think everyones struggling. i have no idea how our area is so successful cause we seriously like dont get to work we're so busy. probably just God helping cause He knows we have no time. but we need to keep finding morepeople. we have so many awesome people but they all just either have to get married first or have a diff problem that they're still working out. they all go to church every sunday and are so awesome but just have like a problem. so hopefully we can help them. but now we're supposed to be helping the rest of the sisters be more successful. cause i think they're all strugging in the work. its kinda weird being an STL. people like ask us for suggestions about being missionaries and like think we have all the answers. its weird i feel like i just got here. but i tell everyone just to have baptisms through obedience. cause the mission goals are super high and immpossible to reach if its just us doing it. but luckily its not just us! so we're good if we're obedient. and then we practiced for our musical number at zone conference. we had to do a district musical number. so we decided on the efy medley and taught it to all the filipinos. it was funny. and then our district leader is literally drew brown its so interesting. he just is very opinionated and likes to let his voice be heard in literally everything. but its fine i sustain my leaders and blah blah :) but then the willis' were working with theother sisters in our house and so they took us all out to lunch. so they showed up at the end of our district council to meet us. and this whole time sis nanlabi and i are running inand out ofthe room cause she keeps throwing up. poor girl. so the willis' were like "we're going back up to bacolod tonight, we'll just take you with us so she can get tothe doctor." so that night they drove us to bacolod and we slept in sisters housing again. we stopped at jollibee on the way home and i saw some members from santa fe!! it was so fun. and saw all my pals at housing again. it was fun. and then we slept there!!
Wednesday- woke up adn went directly to the doctor in bacolod. and then he didnt get there until like 12. so we sat there from 8-12 just chillin and then we didnt get in until like 1:30. it was so long. we practiced our training for all the patients hahaha. but they finally told us that she has a virus and to wash her hands more. i love this country and all the people in it, but the doctors are just so interesting. she litearlly just checked her heart beat and said she doestn havethe flu cause her heart beat is normal andthen looked in her throat for less than 2 seconds and was like you have virus "alksfjaf" or wahtever it is. and prescribed her with super expensive medicine and some throat spray. and then i asked about her head thing and she refferred us to a neuorologist who we're gonna go to this week. so we'll see. i hope hes a reliable doctor. they're all just so interesting. when i was in the hospital that one time they came in to take out my iv and didn't do it right and blood went splattering everywhere. i wasnt looking cause im not a needle person but the elders were there visiting and like 3 members and my comp and they all started screaming it was so funny. and i looked over and there was blood everywhere. they just are very different over here. so i at least hope her head doctors good. sister hopkins' liver doctor was really good so theres hope. i just spend so much in the hospital these days. good times. but then the willis' were so nice and drove us all the way back to la carlota. we stopped at macdo on the way home. they're the best. then we finished the stuff for our training and went to bed.
Thursday- woo zone conference!! we woke up at 5 am and got ready to go! we were gonna do exchanges too so i brought all my overnight stuff for exchanges, my ukulele cause i played for our musical number, all the stuff for our training, and my proselyting bag. and we loaded on a bus to binalbagan. then it was so fun i saw so many of my friends!! and we did our musical number which was fun. and then lots of trainigns from president. president and i are tight. he said hes gonna come buy me dinner for my brithday with the assistants hahah. hes so funny. and then we trained right after lunch! it actually went really well! elder stohl the ap was like we're short on time can you make it 30 min instead of 40? so we had to cut our activity a little short but it went well!! our handouts were relaly cute and pres talked about how great it was. so that was good. i felt pretty good about it. ill send ya a copy of our powerpoint if you want. then when pres askedif anyone had any questions at the very end ofthe day one of the elders stood up and asked if someone rejects the gospel here on earth will they not have a second chance in the nbext life? and the whole missio ngot in a debate about it for a solid 30 minutes it was so interesting. we were just laughing cause it was so funny. pres was so confused hahahah but they wouldnt stop talking sowe all sat and watched them debate forever. it was so funny. and then president said he'd drive us back to our area so we waited for himto finish all his interviews he was doing which took a solid 2 hours. then the assistants drove presidetn and s sumagpao, and us 4 back! it was way nice. we all just chilled while we waited. and then we came home and celebrated sister bergman's 9 monthsand made oreo pancakes. good times. we were supposed to do exchanges right after zone conference, but sis nanlabi still wasnt feeling well so we told them we'd just postpone it. which was probably good cause i was so tired.
friday- friday was tehh first day we got to work like all week! it was a good day. we did our weekly planning in the morning and planned a little bit for our district training next week. we have to go travel to the districts in this zone and the other zone adn train in all their districts too. about companionships. and then we worked all day! it was good.
Saturday- saturday was such a good day! we woke up and at 8 am went over to the church to watch conference!! they played the priesthood session first which we watched and then they started the mornign session at 11. the powerwent out so we were jusut using a generator but it was super slow so it shut off every half hour or so. so we would miss about every other talk which was sad. but they were all so good! and then we watched the afternoon one! i saw mandi!!! sis nanlabi thinks we're twins now it was funny. i looved it it was great. Then we went around and invited everyone to church with the remaining hours.
Sunday- AH yay what a good day. general conference was SO GOOD. i just loved it. the talks were all just so good. its so interesting how they all relate so well together. i think i really realized this general conference how cool it is. ive always loved general conf cause of the powedered donuts and fruit roll ups and snacks and wearing pajamas on sunday but these people areliterally like the representatives of christ here on earth right now! and pres nelson probably like chats with christ allthetime and here he is now talking to the whole church. it was cool. lots about repentance and lots about god'splan. i really liked the one about how we recieve immediate blessings. not like all our problems immediately dissapear, cause that part depends on God, but we get immediate help. lots of good ones too. 10/10.would have been 12/10 if we hadsome more crazy announcments. oh well. next time.
life is good though!! i thinkwe're going to a sunflower farm today. stay tunedfor some cute pics next week :)
